Experience Michigan Mining History

This 1.5 hour hike provides experiences you won’t soon forget! Enter by the No. 1 adit and see solid pieces of native copper weighing hundreds of pounds left behind by earlier miners. Traverse through the largest rooms of the mine and past shafts to lower levels and see where pure copper and silver was removed. You can also see some copper still in place within the rock walls of the mine.

What to Expect

On the Prospector’s Tour, you will need to maneuver through a few low spots. The trails are rough with uneven footing and the mine is always a cool 48°F so we recommend a light jacket and closed-toed walking shoes. Helmets and headlamps are provided. Please allow at least an hour and a half for this tour. There are no age restrictions for this tour.
